Live laugh love GLASS

Hi,

I'm still working on my Designers Challenge entry, my Owl Always Love You, and another mystery design which is a shhh... s e c r e t!  Anyways, I haven't made much progress in any of my WIPs so I thought I'd change up the usual routine of writing about yarn and knitting, and travel over to the realm of glassblowing. 

For my birthday, a few of my friends and I went over to an awesome glass blowing place in Oregon called Live Laugh Love Glass (I even gave you a link to their website!).  Check out their site if you have a bit of spare time, there are some really inspiring photos of absolutely stunning glass pieces throughout the website - trust me, you'll be amazed.

Here is a Christmas themed sushi plate I designed at Live Laugh Love Glass.  I'm proud with how it turned out, and it's perfect for the holiday season.  I made this glass piece before Christmas and I thought it would be finished by Christmas but it wasn't, so I guess I'll have to wait until next year!

Here is my sushi plate.  I love how the green glass shimmers, it reminds me of snowflakes settling on holly leaves.  Overall, I think it looks lovely, and I am thinking about giving it away as a nice present.

This is one of my first glass projects ever.  I made this 2 summers ago, and it's a flower candle stick holder.

Here is a shot looking into the inside: I used fine grains of glass to create the circular pattern.

Happy Post!

Hi,

This post is going to be a long (but happy) one, so prepare yourself.  Today I have a lot to share with you, but first I'd like to make a note on the new banner!  How do you like it?  I think it looks better than the old one, but I'm still working on making everything a bit more crisp and defined.  Hopefully I can fix the banner to my satisfaction, but it will take time.  However, I'm quite pleased with the results!

Next topic: Owl Always Love You - swatch.  I finished it, and frogged it to save yarn, but before I ripped it out I took a picture of it, just for the sake of memories!  Here's what it looked like - I know, it's amazing. ;)

I am also designing something right now, it's for the Designers Challenge group January contest.  I am loving everything about the requirements and the theme, they are so simple and easy to get creative with.  Here are the requirements:

- theme: light

- object: bag

- technique: sewing/seaming

Now, I bring you a sneak peak of my design to be!  I won't tell you much about it yet, since I'm still in the very beginning of the design.

Also, today I received 2 "yarnful" packages.  Here are some fibery items that I received.  I love them!!!!

Here are 2 skeins of mango moon pastiche!  Such great texture and colors, I can't wait to knit with it.

Silk yarn!  I have never worked with silk before and I am excited to use this colorful, beautiful yarn.

Handspun and dyed!  So gorgeous, with my favorite colors!  I really like the orange and yellow flecks hidden in the fiber; it adds a touch of playfulness to this lovely yarn.

And last but certainly not least, Louisa Harding Thistle!  I really like the feel of this yarn and the deep, earthy color.  Looking forward to designing something with this.

The next step for my Owl Always Love You sweater is to test knit an owl cable, I can't wait to create my very first Owlet!

Hexipuffs: Episode 1

Hi!
This week has been filled with sock yarn, size 4 needles, and puffiness and that means 3 very special hexipuffs have entered the world!  Hooray! Let me introduce you to the little guys.

Owl Sweater - Step One: Swatch

Hello Everybody,
I'm back, and ready to embark on one of the greatest knitting journeys ever with Hasol: knitting my very first sweater! ~yay! whoohoo! yipedee do da! ta da! yeah! ahahah! yay! yah! whee!~ okay, sorry for that excitement attack; let's get back to the sweater. :)

The yarn I selected for this sweater is Cascade 128 Superwash Chunky in colorway Silver, dye lot 1946.  I chose this light gray because I wanted to have a neutral colored sweater, instead of something colorful and bright.  Gray is also one of my favorite colors.

I bought the yarn at Angelika's Yarn Store (I gave you a link to their site), a very nice yarn store in Portland, Oregon.  They had many colors to choose from, but I picked this one above all.

The pattern I'm using is called Owls, but I call it Owl Always Love You just because it sounds much cuter!!

After I finish writing this post I will begin knitting the swatch (ugh! :P), not the most interesting part of knitting a sweater but certainly an important thing to do.  Well, I'll end on that: have a wonderful day everybody and make sure to enter the giveaway!

Photo time! and NEWS

Hi,
Ah, winter break has come to an end, and I'm back in school.  Yay (and no, that was not sarcastic)!  I just got back from Florida and I have some more vacation photos to share with you. (Warning: picture packed post ahead!)

Okay, now that you've seen some vacation photos, it's time for some (drumroll) FIBER PHOTOS!!!  

 100% baby alpaca!  Softest yarn EVER!

My first skein on Madelinetosh!  Such an exciting moment!  I love the forest colors.

My first good-quality cotton yarn!

All of these yarns were from Sheryl, who sent these as a late birthday RAK present. There was also a skein of Malabrigo that I already had so now I have 2 skeins of that color way, so I can make a larger project!

Okay, now back to business!  I recently joined the Blog Hub group on Ravelry and discovered some awesome Memes in the forums that I would like to start participating in.  Here are 3 that I thought were pretty cool!: FO Friday, WIP Wednesday, and Squee Sundays.  Stay tuned to figure out what happens on those Meme days! ;)

Stepping into 2013

Hi,
I have a confession to make: I did not finish Christmas presents on time.  However, this year I'm going to try very hard to knit up all of those presents and get them finalized, wrapped, and shipped before Christmas so all my friends and family can open their new hand-knit gift on Christmas morning.  So, how will I be able to accomplish all of this knitting?  I will be starting Christmas knitting: right now!  Now I have no excuses for not getting presents done on time! :) :P

Anyways, I'm still in Florida and I will be flying home to rainy Oregon on Sunday.  I'm sad to be leaving the nice weather but it will be nice to get back home and start my first sweater!  Yep, I will be knitting up the Owls Sweater with my fellow knitter and raveler Hasol!  First, I will need to take a trip to Twisted, a very nice yarn store in Portland.  The yarn I'm going to get is going to be a dark gray, in bulky weight.  I can't wait to begin!  My new nickel plated needles are ready to go.
